If you’re not one hundred percent set on a date just yet, consider these options that can save you big money. These are tips for choosing a date for your wedding, and saving your budget in the process.
The difference in cost between a Saturday and Sunday alone is phenomenal. The date most booked in advance is a Saturday. Which mean the same price that a venue would charge for your rehearsal dinner, for example, if booked on a Sunday, could be half the price if booked on a Saturday.
Off peak days are also great ways to negotiate prices. If you are fighting with five other couples for the same weekend, the vendor won’t see a need to haggle with you when they could get more money from the next couple waiting for the spot.
Fridays and Sundays are great ways to cater to your guests’ schedules. A late Friday ceremony with a midnight reception bash can be just as great as a Saturday wedding. Same with a Sunday morning, with a late afternoon reception. These kinds of time tables also cater to location specific weddings, such as farm or outdoor weddings, lit by lanterns or shaded by the trees. Best part is: you’re saving money!

1) Determine who is paying for what. This is an important detail, as not all of the expenses will be coming out of your wallet. You should find out who is paying for what, and what is up to you and your family personally, as there are often divisions between the Bride and Groom’s side.
2) Figure out what you “need”: making a clear distinction between what is essential and what is ideal is important. First find out what is important and mandatory, then you can find out what you have left to work with for your dream details.
3) Work out how you can save: there are many little ways you can cut back on a variety of details that can add up big. Find out what is important and where you can’t cut back, then narrow down everything else and start saving. There are many details that are not essential, and you will know what those are. Figure out what fits in your budget.
